Rainbow Gulch Trail Information (including Photos & Videos)
The Rampart Reservoir Recreation Area is part of the Pike National Forest located northwest of Colorado Springs. The most popular trail in this area is the Rainbow Gulch trail which provides the perfect entry point to get to the reservoir.
This area features two campgrounds; a deep, cold reservoir covering 400 acres, and miles of trails used by hikers, mountain bikers and runners in the summer, and cross-country skiers and snowshoers in the winter. When you reach the reservoir, via the Rainbow Gulch Trail you can either turn back here (to return to the trailhead) or continue on the trail around the Reservoir for a great exhilarating ride or hike.
The Rainbow Gulch Trail is on POCKET PALS Trail Map #11 in the Pikes Peak Region Series. The other trails on this trail map are: Backdoor (#723), Eagles Peak, Falcon, Kenyon Loop, Rampart Reservoir, Schubarth (#307), Stanley Canyon (#707), Stanley Rim (#722), Trail 709, Trail 721, Trail 775 and West Monument Creek.
All Pocket Pals Trail Maps offer very detailed information for each trail including trail distances, allowed trail uses, difficulty levels, elevation profiles, total ascent/descent, directions to trailhead, the trailhead's longitude/latitude, and waypoints (landmarks along each trail).
